Make/model?

Does the car actually have speakers?

*EDIT* Misread your post...

Heres my ideas.

1. Check the wiring, maybe faulty or not wired correctly.
2. Check your speakers, test them to make sure theyre not blown.

Ill add them as they come to me

Has it got a brand name? Give us a discription?

Whats it play? Are you sure there isnt some random stupid "buttom lock" so you cant bump your head deck? Just trying to rule stuff out

Take a photo of it? Must be a make/model on it somewhere. Although I've never heard of a cd player that didn't work for pretty much every cd... You're not trying to play burned cds are you?

Could be a fault IN the head deck. Not sure how they are internally wired but is it possible that while on CD the volume control isnt able to be used. Is your head deck like mine, where if i set the volume to 50 on radio, and switch it to cd and set cd volume at 10, then switch back to radio its on 50 again? Or is it 1 volume for the entire time?

Could it be (far fetched maybe) that the cd player is set to not use the internal amp - ie output through rca's only?

What's the brand name/model?

Did some reading, does it look like the original face unit? And its not detachable correct? Apparantly they will show problems your having if its not the original head unit. Ill keep reading about them

Found this on some "car sound and performance forums"..

"Well after years of faithfull service my 8061 has developed a problem. I just moved it to it's third car and now it won't play CD's. Radio still works fine, and everything else seems to be fine, but when I put in a CD i can hear it ever so quietly trying to spin up over and over again, but the volume wont adjust. I love this deck and don't want to have to give it up. How much is Eclipse getting for repairs these days (I'm out of warranty)? Any suggestions on what I might try myself? I think it's probably pretty dirty inside, might it just need a clean out?

thanks a ton"

Apparantly there was no resolution to the problem.
