Aftermarket ECUs, microtec vs link lem

Postby Crown » Tue Jan 24, 2006 6:09 pm

I'm looking at buying an anftermarket ecu for my 1uz-ftte project.
Does anyone know if the older microtechs like the MT-4 and LT-8 can be reprogrammed to use different sensors?
How much does it cost to get a link lem reprogrammed?
cheers

Cost of getting a link reconfigured to suit will depend on what version it is, as basically now if you want to get one reconfigured they'll want to upgrade it to LEM v5 specs. In all honestly with the price of a new LEM V5 I can't see why you'd bother buying a s/hand one & then getting it reconfigured & buying a new loom etc as it works out the same or more than a new one. As for using a Linkplus I think you'll find that basically they are no longer supported as far as upgrades/reconfigures go as they are trying to move everyone over to the newer G2/g3 platforms. If I knew what ECu type & version I could get you an approximate cost but I think the last LEm I sent down was a V3 & it cost about $250 to get it updated to V5 specs & a few other changes & repairs done.

On the Microtech side of things, all Microtech's must go back to them to be reconfigured, no if buts or maybe's about it. There is no longer support for anything other than their current offerings except for in the way of looms & manuals, so basically unless your going to be an LT8 onwards you won't get it reconfigured & posssible if needed wouldn't get it repaired. I know this for a fact as I do work for one of the two offical NZ microtech agents & have tried to get several MT series ecu's both repaired & reconfigured. Once again if you let me know what ecu etc it is your planning on getting reconfigured I can double check to see if they can do it.

Basically for what your doing though it sounds like you need to really step up a level to the likes of a LinkplusG2,Motec M400,Autronic,Haltech E11 etc to probably do what you want with regards to ignition/injector drives & inputs/outputs etc.
