Postby 72rona » Wed Jan 25, 2006 3:38 pm

Hey im looking at puting a turbo engine in my recently restored 72 rt81 corona, ive been told the best option for it would be a 3tgteu, just wundering if any1 has any ideas or any info tht would help me out at all, or any 1 with a engine set up or wateva, it would be much apreciated

why not go with a 4agte?

probably will work out cheaper in the long run due to parts being easier to get and being an engine which is more supported in terms of aftermarket parts available over the 3tgteu..

either way you will have to change the engine mounts, and possibly the gearbox.. rt81 has a w50? or something different?

should hold up behind a 4agte depending how you treat it and how much boost you run.

i am unsure of what box it has, will definatly want to be changed tho as it is just the standard 4speed. what gear box would you reconmend to sit behind the 4agte

you'l want a W series.. w55, w57 preferably, but a T50 will possibly hold up depending how much power etc you want to run.

if its a 4speed, its most likely a w40

ohk, i was orginaly thinkn of a turbo'd 4age bt then sum 1 told me tht the 3tgteu would go in alot easyer, do u rekn a 4agze converted 2 turbo would be better then a turbo 4age, i was told the 4agze has semi internals and is a stronger engine

3tgteu would probably go in slightly easier if you can find one for a decent price, but you will still need to do just as much work for it as with the 4age,

im not to sure on what 4AG*E engine would be best, but if you do a search on here, you'l soon find out what works best as plenty of people have them.
