Distributor & Rotor Help

Postby BZG Wagon » Mon Jan 30, 2006 11:16 am

If I replace my Distributor Cap and Rotor, will I need to redo the Timining on my car?

My initial thought is that I shouldnt have to, as the cap sits after the adjustment, but I just want to be sure.

The reason I want to replace, is because when I took it off the last time I serviced the car, the cap looked very worn, and chunks of what appeared to look like carbon came off the terminals when I went to sand the terminals back.

Nope, just pull the rotor off, put the new one on. As the shaft is connected to the cam shaft via gears/cogs, it won't budge.
Motorsport is like sex. You could take it to track and have a long, enjoyable session, or you could take it to the strip and get it over with in less than 20 seconds.
