20v Blacktop AE86

Postby johntramp » Sat Feb 04, 2006 5:54 pm

Hey I am putting a 20v Blacktop 4age into my trueno and am up to doing the wiring of the loom. Has anyone here done this before? I am not sure what needs to be spliced into the 20v loom to get the car running. I believe there are 6 or so wires which need to be spliced in from the ignition etc. but am unsure what exactly needs to be done.
Is anyone able to point me in the right direction here?
Cheers

That scares me.. Thats a really big hole....

But basically if the engine loom is uncut you will be ok. Plug all of that up, and then you need to figure out what wires on the engine loom you need to power up. On my gze loom, and my 20v silver loom there is a big white wire, thats basically the main power feed. That needs to be powered (via fuse and relay). That should get the ecu happy.

There will also be another wire for the injectors and the coil. Both of those need to be fused and relayed.

Then you will need to get the body loom power. Now, I don't have a clue on a ae86, (the one i helped put a 2T into we left the body loom in place so we didnt have to touch that, just ran with two fuse boxes), but somewhere you will find the power wires and the starter solinoid signal. Those have to be hooked into the fusebox and the engine loom respectivly.

That *should* be enough (probably a couple of little things ive forgotten) to make the motor run, and once its running, then worry about the dash signals (speed, revs etc).

And wire in the engine check light asap....Its frekin helpful.

Thanks alot slighty_sykotic, I will have a look thisafternoon and see what I can do. It does look a lil scary at the moment but I promise you it won't be that ugly when I have finished :)
I believe this will be better than bashing the firewall until it almost rips which was the alternative.

vvega, yes this is only the engine loom I am working with now.
