Interior decorating

Postby jiranz5 » Tue Feb 07, 2006 11:07 am

I am the proud owner of a 1996 Celica SS3. The outside colour is super white 2 and the interior is that two tone black (matt and gloss), I'm gonna change that but not entirely sure what colour would best suite. I was thinking along the lines of a deep gold. any ideas?

my advice dont do it. I started to do the interior and it was the worst thing i did, it frustrated the hell outta me. If you want to do that stuff best leave it to the professionals IMO

I actually pulled the car apart and put it back together again the other day to have a look and it's not really that difficult. Most of it just clips in and out of place so meh. I was also planning on doing it over a long period...not in a great hurry. just need some paint and a bit of cloth to start with. Was thinking a glossy, satin kind of material along the doors with matching paint on the front console for starters. Door material is simply glued on and front console area clips in and out with only 2 screws holding it in place at the bottom.

My advice

Find the material you want to use and go from there - its no good choosing a paint colour and then not having any material which will match it.

I had huge problems choosing a paint color - so I just took a sample in.

Painting the interior is yuck and tacky IMO, just really never looks nice and ruins the resale value in most cases. Unless restitched/lined professionally im not really a fan.

Dont mean to offend anyone just my 2c

Totally agreed. Painting is rank, it flakes off even if you try to be careful with it, it just looks cheap as a whole I think.

go have a look in
http://www.6gc.net/forums

Whole forum dedicated to the 6th gen celica.

My celica came with dull grey panels. Sprayed them black using Duplicolor Vinyl dye and its been good. Went through a lot of trouble to find the right paint though.

I think a white interior with a white exterior is a bit bland. I've spotted a nice colour-moss. Might have a look at that. yea, white with black and moss interior.
