Rotary builders?

Postby Dell'Orto » Tue Feb 07, 2006 1:12 pm

Yeah random question to ask on here....but someone may know someone who knows of a decent rotary engine builder.
Honestly, I've looked on some other rotary forums and you get lots of bitchfighting and not many facts!
Any help would be great :D

Aparently RX7 Heaven know what they are doing. I'm guessing there will be 1 or 2 specific people to deal with as with any other place if you want the best quality work...

My GF also knows the owner of a Rotary place (Kiwi RE I think) if you want to get in contact with someone directly...?

I dont really trust people from Paraparaumu that much

I rang most of the people mentioned today, and they're all pretty helpful...might have to see if I can get any more info on Rota Havik (ugh).

Cheers

Heh, wouldnt waste your time with rotahavik, just go to someone reputable with a descent name, shop around before hand.

Steer well clear of backyard cowboys (seen it go wrong too many times), stick with big names, as they have a reputation to live up to and will build a good, tough motor.

I wouldnt take chances when it comes to building a rotary motor 8)

Yeah Jebus, thats pretty much my line of thought too...kinda hard to have any come back against a guy who works from home. No offense, but its alot of money to throw away.
86_rolla - why exactly are they dodgy? I've heard stories about other places too, but I try and ignore the BS.
Pies - yeah, the company he worked for didnt really inspire much confidence...I'd probably build it myself before that.

second vote the 2 Pauls of Hayshed Rotaries. don't be put off by the name, it's a combination of their surnames.

if anyone has seen Hopper's PP Mk1 Escort in action, they'll vouch for it.

is it an actual fact , or a 'friend of a friend of a mate of a disgruntled owner that was hoping for better things from the $2k he gave the engine builder' type of yarn that was chinese whispers at the diesils???
