Well, no, I'd disagree with that, and I'd say most others would as well.

Yes, there are freak 20Vs out there which seem to go a bit better than most - that happens. But intake / exhaust on a B16A will net over 100kW @ the wheels easy, and it seems to be a bit of a struggle to get similar numbers from a toymota 1600.

Yes you can modify cams, blah blah to get similar sort of power - if you did those same modifications to the honda engine, well... Its just not a level playing field is it.

come on people, this topic is about advising the young chap on adding an safc to his silvertop...

not weither vtax > 20v or not  any other posts along those lines i will be deleting

trueno_20v - personally i wouldnt bother spending the coin on an SAFC. I would go to a complete aftermarket ECU. Much better gains to be had there IMO

To answer your question the first gen SAFC wont work proparly with a silver top. They dont like AFM & will cause the car to stall for no reason etc. I looked at installing one on my black top & was told by ST Hi Tech not to bother, spend a little more & get the SAFC2. Which is what i did. I got 6kw extra at the wheels right the way through the rev range. I've had the engine rebuilt scince then because my rings were stuffed from being run lean for so long. Once its run in i'll put i back on the dyno & see what the true results are.

On the topic of silvertops my stock standard AE101 Levin ran a 15.8. My best to date with the AE111 is 15.1, Should run in the 14s now with the new engine.
