Marriage kids and a mortgage... yay or nay?

Postby RomanV » Wed Feb 08, 2006 1:17 pm

So...
Is there anyone out there who actually WANTS the whole 'MKM' deal?

It seems like more and more people are becoming more independant these days, and arent having the 'MKM' till much later in life.

What are your thoughts?

Personally, the thought of even ONE of the above things is enough to send me running for the hills...

First of all, Marriage seems like such a trivial formality to me. I dont see why people obsess over it so much.

Second of all, kids. It comes down to... What would you rather have? A race car, or a kid?
Because the kid will probably cost you more, and a car doesnt hate you when it turns 15.

Anyway, the point of this poll/ramble is......
Is there actually anyone out there, that wants the whole white picket fence thing?
Or is that just a generalisation about middle class joe averages.

As you can tell, I'm not interested in the above at all.....

But I'm sure that some of you have different points of view. 8)

Where's the "I don't want to think about that for another 10 years" option.

Dont really have an opinion on the whole marriage thing, if I ever do get married it'll just be in like the registry office or something! Screw paying all that money for one day!

As for kids, there is NO WAY IN HELL i'll ever have any! I don't have a single maternal bone in my body! :D

What world are you living in? If so many people wanted that, how come this world is so full of unfaithful people? :P

People these days are scum and its hard to find someone who would be that devoted to you and not sleep with someone else anyway!

To the people who aren't like that, my hat goes off you to. I'm not saying there aren't any decent human being left, just a majority aren't :)

Yeh im down for that, first I wanna waste silly amounts of money on cars, get my degree, then buy a house, settle down with a wife and have 1 or 2 kids in about 8ish years time. However, cars will always be a part of me and come first :8

On that topic, I am one who never has and never will cheat on a partner etc.. But yeh finding a nice girl that is fun and isnt a slapper that hits the burns 24/7 is rather hard. Just broke up with my g/f of over 2 years who was very devoted, but still very good fun. she was awesome :(

sucks to hear Jebus. :?

Yeah, I suppose 'in another 10 years' shoulda been an option. :)

I suppose the reason that I bring up this poll, is that...
it seems that a lot more females than males want to get married and have kids, especially when theyre youngish.

It seems that these things are milestones in life for a lot of females that I know, whereas a lot of guys just want to spend money on cars and toys. :D

Well this is an Interesting Thread..

Marriage = HELL NO as said above I don't see why people obsess over it so much seem's to be more of the Female variety then most :D..
I have a mate getting married in a couple of week's and another few that have gotten engaged and planning to get married :? Seem's to be a happening trend and one that I will never follow  ..

Kids = HELL NO aswell if I ever feel the need to look after a kid I will go and get my niece.. Having her for a day is enough for me to say no to having kid's spesh when it's hard enough to look after myself :P .. Also my baby is my wee Boxer Pup at least she doesn't talk back like a lil snot would and doesn't waaa on like a baby

I disagree.

A lot of men take shit from women their whole lives.
However if a girl starts giving me shit all of the time, I'll kick her to the kerb without a moments hesitation.

Unless she was pregnant, in which case I'd throw her down a set of stairs instead.

Okay not really, I was going for shock value with that one

Marriage: In another 5+ years I'll consider it. I don't want a hideously expensive OTT wedding, nor an expensive OTT reception.

Mortgage: Sure.

Kids: Ask me in another 5 years, as of this point, I'd rather avoid that like the plague.
