The trick is to do them one at at time:
- Get married to someone who also works (as well as you)
- Since you are DINKs, you can afford the mortgage, and pay it off quickly. (5 1/2 years in our case - one income going into paying the mortgage will do that )
- Once you've paid the mortgage off and built up some savings, have kid(s).

That's pretty much what has happened with me and my wife, except we had the mortgage before getting married.

Well Ive got one of the three - a daughter - and I tell you what, they grow on you...

I'd have two of the three - a mortgage - if I could raise the deposit. When you've been renting for a few years you get sick of throwing money into a black hole. At least a mortgage is bringing you some benefit, in that you are 'buying' the place you're living in (off the bank).

As for marraige, no hurry, we're all-but married anyway.

But I can tell all you young pups (!) that your perspective will change ... mine certainly has in the last couple of years!!!

Got mortgage over 6 years ago.

Been engaged for over 8 years, no rush to get married.

No $&#$% kids, got two dogs instead.

But one question I would like to pose, has anyone else noticed it is generally the ones you think should be breeding who aren't and the ones you would hate to see with kids who are multiplying like rabbits?

I'm gonna be happy with just the one boy, (unless he's retarded and then we'll trade him on a new guitar) but marriage isn't something I even think about to be honest. One day I suppose.

Mortgage, for sure in a few years.

As for "wrapped around my little finger" yeah, that's pretty true. As long as I have my own space then I'm fine and want my partner to be happy.

But if she doesn't watch it... CHOP CHOP.... *microwave cooking sound* Ding. :D
