although tip size and outlet size are not always the same, even a 3 1/2" outlet is much bigger then you need for your car...you wont get any gains from it over 2 1/4"ish which would be much better imo

the tip means nothing, its just rice.

best to ignore those ricey mufflers and get a proper exhaust. im sure you wont have a problem finding a highflow muffller with the inlet/outlet you need. try flowmaster

I have one similar to these on my BZ-G. N1 style 2.5" straight thrugh witht a 3.5" tip. It also has a removable silenser which is handy to have if want the best of both worlds. I had a mate with a 4" tip on his AE101 FXGT & it looked to big. 3.5" looks just right on this sized car.
Those old skool mufflers like flow master & super turbo etc are to restrictive & look wrong on a rice rocket

i wouldnt call flow master "old school" they are a modern desing and are far form restrictive, certainly a lot less restrictive then those removable silencers

When the silencer is in it is restrictive but the main point of it is to make it quiet, then you remove it when you want to make lots of noise & have no restriction.
Like I said the best of both worlds.

actually id say not....
the restricter can play havoc with power and economy

and with it out you can run the risk of a s $250 fine and demerit points.

imo your best to do it right and have power with a nice legal sound.... thats the best of both worlds

so, how much power did that muffler gain u robo?

its just rice, sure, everyone gets one when they first have to do the exhaust, but after that its just "shouldnt have got one...." except for the few exceptional people, who belive they actually do highly increase power.

I already had a muffler like that on it it when i got the car but without the silencer. It got a hole in the bottom so I replaced it with one the same but with the removable silencer to keep my girlfriend happy as she hated the drone on long trips. With the silencer in you notice the restriction at higher revs but it gives you better low down power & the oposite when removed.

We replaced an old skool style Lukey muffler from my friends VTEC integra & replaced it with a N1 style muffler & it made a very noticable difference. The engine revd easier & when it hit VTEC it went way harder.
I've been down the road of the old skool muffer & press bent exhaust in my AE92 FXGT & it didn't make much difference apart from a terrable noise. The N1 is not just rice, Its the best design for these cars. Why do you think all the major performance brands make this style of system over the old ones?

Pioneer AutoParts on Church St, Onehunga are agents for Flowmaster. I was priced a "60 series" to shut up my GZE at about $260ish. Anyone got one of these on? Do they do a good job of keeping them quiet?

Yup i have a 2 chamber flowmaster, made my 4AGE very nice sounded, not tinny and crap like most, and it makes it a good volume, you can still hear it, but wont piss off neighbors late at night or attract attention.

I was in this kind of position a few weeks ago and after talking to quite a few guys about it, I decided to go with a Dytech Blaster muffler, 2"-in to 4"-out. Muffler itself is $299, Silencer is $62.50, Resonator was $80 for 350mm and $99 for the 500mm, and the Mounting clamps were $36.50 each (and a good idea if you don't want any bars welded onto the muffler itself).

If you want to see what types of mufflers they have, go HERE!

Some other people said to go with RPS Mufflers (at Pitstop, basic ones fitted for $350) but others said that RPS mufflers sound too 'tinny' so I decided against.
