Where to get T76 Wheel and T04E housing in Akl.

Postby Stealer Of Souls » Mon Feb 13, 2006 11:33 am

Hey.

Was talking to a contact in the states about a design they've got. And they told me that I should use a T76 wheel and T04E housing.
So the question is, where is a good place to look for these, and there to get the housing machined to match wheel?
Also, what do people think this should cost?

I'd suggest contacting Altech (sp?) they'll be able to source most parts for you and put all together nicely...

Or you can get Steve Murch to build you a MSE special :)
No "stance", no "hellaflush", none of that bullshit. Nothing but no grip on full boost.

MSE? Motorsport Engineering?

To start with. Maybe use my Levin as a test mule. It's a design based upon something I saw on the net... If it works it should do it's job nicely... It's all a bit hush hush cause I don't want people to laugh at me...
It's a little while in the build. Gotta get the engine finished first and then procure all the parts before I can actually try this out. But if it works I'll be able to show people something that should peak some interest. Especially from the weekend draggers...

Does your idea involve a divided flange/twin scroll turbo, with one side/half of the manifold's collector blocked off with a butterfly till later in the rev range to decrease spool time?

Yes we @ AllTech have New Polished Compressor Covers from Turbonetics in stock ,

Not trying to shoot you down but.
if you are thinking of making an electric s/charger a T76 compressor wheel
would be Toooooooo big. 76.2mm inducer & 102mm on the base,
thats is a lot of wheel to move....

to spin one of those you would need a BIG motor & lots of batterys...
it would be best to get something like a CT26 or a TB03,

i know MSE has made an electric s/charger from a Mitsi TD025 Compressor
cover & wheel attached to a R/c motor...

that is the way i would do it..

Has to have a big wheel... the problem with a TD025 (assuming that's reasonably small) is that the RC motor I'm using can only pull around 40000RPM. So a TD025 can't create much flow in comparison (BTW I have no idea how big a td025 really is). How does 2.2kW from 24V sound? Tee hee hee...
Will no doubt have bugs in the design to work out. But the setup I'm emulating has already been tried and tested, but is not being produce en-mass. And I'm trying to promote the product down here, so I have to go and build the first unit myself. And then if there's enough interest the big brother unit can be brought here down under.

Nope. Although the later twincharge concept will using a dual tuned length exhaust with a diverting system that will divert the exhaust around the turbo at low revs (with the exhaust tuned to match low RPM) and then puth full flow through the turbo at later RPM.
Again. Probably plenty of bugs in the design. But first I have to build all the individual components...

Phothog: Roughly how much would I be looking at for the T76 wheel and T04E cover?

when i was looking into twincharging i was going to run both though reed valves
this way this way the valve only opens when your pressure differential is positive on the device side

in theroy it would be self regulating and would give you a smooth transistion

I thought of something similar, but instead use a modified airflow meter on each one. Basically the same, but easier to source, probably flow better too

flow is dependant on the size of the reed
i made a 4" conical one with 8 petals and therically it would flow 700 odd cfm

the wieght of the reeds and there pretention makes them very quick to respond "hence why there used as valves in 2 strokes :D"

and that response is what i consider critical to eliminat transition peroids

This also has the side benefit of being able to measure just how much each charger is flowing. Probably not the most universally useful measurement. But good if you were gonna do what I'm planning and use an electric s/c. Can use the measurement to see just how much each charger is flowing. Load balancing that sort of stuff.
Dunno if it can really be done all that well...

That's my proposed layout (roughly).

personally i woudl run them though there own wta AS 2X compression sources x a hell of a lot of hot air
you migth frind more effencency in perhaps runing it that way

I'm intending to switch off the ESC once the turbo is up to speed. So I wouldn't expect there to be more air than a single WAIC can handle.
