Must have been a wire in one he quoted you, cause the unit is like $950, and his rates arent that expensive.

$940 would be the basic link.... what version was it for?
if that includes a dyno tune for a link plus(or what ever they call it) id say its not to bad. and if they are experienced with links and have a good rep for installing them id go with that

He does have his own dyno (Dyna Pak), Im yet to be really impressed by anything hes tuned. Fortec have a rolling road dyno, the same as Torque Performance, but also have heard some bad things about their work, mostly to do with the speed it takes for anything to get done.

Seems like all the Gun tuners are in Auckland......Anyone you would recommend or have heard good comments about in the Lower north island area at all?....

Yeah....Ive just heard bad comments about Andres tuning, people say the only cars he takes time to tune properly are his own, I just keep hearing bad storys about cars blowing up and running badly after he has tuned them...I dont know though??? If i cant find anyone else locally I might have to give him a bell

He is quite good, but quite conservative. Never got him to do any tuning for me, but he did a few mates cars and they seemed to go well.

I don't know why everyone gets so hung up on finding a tuner with a dyno. Udy Auto up here in morrinsville have no dyno, and are the only place i'd take my car to get tuned ever! But now i do it myself theres no need.
Don't get me wrong, im not anti dyno, i have used them, there just not the be all and end all.

Not really any better than an SAFC, Digital fuel adjuster from jay is 1/6th the price and does the same job.

problem with typical fuel adjusters , such as s-afc's, map ecu's etc, is that on many stock ecus, if you install larger injectors, then reduce the airflow signal to the ecu to make it run properly, the ecu will think the car is making less boost than it actually is, and wont retard timing as much as it usually would, which can lead to detonation.

IMHO, an aftermarket computer is far better than lots of plug in adjusters.

Yea, but it does get rid of AFM and you are meant to be able to run boost with it lol

the AFM isn't really the restriction most people think it is. Tests done by someone on mr2oc.com showed the AFM reduced power by less than 2%, IIRC. I'd go as far as to say that even the cheapest link would be better than a map ecu etc, and wouldn't cost much more
