Ok, seeing as I have heat wrapped my 20v extractors... I guess I should take this question?

It all comes down to how you wrap them, i.e. the spacings/overlapping vs the width of the wrap, and if you are going to wrap them once or twice and how far down the extractors you are going to cover.
For the spacing, some people recommend overlapping it by 1/2 for every loop around, others say 2/3's. I did mine at 2/3's as I was only wrapping them once. The width of wrap I used was about 40mm.
As for the length of heat wrap used: about 10 - 12 metres.

When you wrap them, do each '4' pipe indiviually. Then join them in their pairs in the '2' pipe section, and wrap them all together as a single pipe as you go half-way down the '2' pipe section. Then just carry on down the extractors. This can either be down with the extractors in place, or it might be easier to remove them. But I did it in place and never had any proberms. But:

You can get it cheaper from other places. Mine only cost $25 for 15m as I brought it off TradeMe. :D Have a search around different insulation places/shops as they may sell something exactly like what you need... but without the name brand and the price mark-up that comes with it.

*waits for the 'but the cheap stuff doesn't last as long' speel*

Mines been on there for two years now with no signs of aging or damage.

Segedins sells it, $50 and it will wrap the 20v extractors + more.

And wet it before you put it on!!!!! then you wont need gloves, also in the instructions it says wet it first before you wrap it.

I did mine with Dytech stuff from nzperformance, its good stuff, yep wetting it is the best advice, makes it nice to put on and welding wire is awesome for fixing it at the ends, looks mmuuuchh better than cable ties. I wuldnt trust the cheap shit off trade me, I bought a bit of it, and it caught fire on my extractors :( The dytech stuff made a huge difference, did my extractors and half way down my piping, then just the section over my diff.

Hmm, I cant remember the brand of the stuff we have at work, but its bloody good, had it on my downpipe and it was mint when I sold it (8 months after doing it). Costs like $8 something a metre retail.

Is that like drinking anything left in a fuel filter when you change it?

Gloves? May as well add on safety glasses, earmuffs, overalls, full length fire suit and a big pretty clear bubble then :D

Think it was only a single 50ft roll to do my extracters. Thought it couldn't hurt to do a couple of layers though
