Safe Boost?

Postby Levin » Thu Feb 16, 2006 9:42 pm

Hey, me again. Just wanting to know what people think is a safe boost level to run in my car (ST185 GT4). I recently installed a boost controller, and am boosting 10psi. So yeah, just curious to know what is the safe max level to run (the car doesnt seem to have a fuel cut btw, boost spiked to about 15psi when I first installed the controller).

Cheers, Tom

Take it to a dyno, wind up the boost until the a/f ratios are about 12.5:1, thats safe ;)

You cant really say, as whats safe for one car could be dangerously lean on another...fuel pumps, filter, injectors...all that guff can wear out/clog up. The only way to say what is safe is to do like I posted, and have a run on a dyno with a wideband o2 sensor up the tailpipe.
That said, factory boost ought to be plenty safe ;)

Ive returned to the factory boost (about 9-8 pound). Who needs high boost if all your doing is going from home to school anyway?
