hey, can someone help me on adjustable suspension. what might i be looking for on some 2nd hand adjustables ? what should i look out for....?

its for my 20v non super strut levin :P

Crap, I totally forgot to email you back sorry. I managed to pick one up in auckland. Sorry but time was of the essesence as my GF's car got wriitten off three weeks ago and we are still waiting for the insurance payout! Hopefully that is all I need for the ST205 for a while!

Don't forget, you'll have to factor into your budget $300 - $400 for LVVTA certification, assuming it is a roadgoing car! That trips over heaps of people

You wont find adjustables for non-s/strut trueno levins listed practically anywhere. :(

But, if you ask for AE92 corolla adjustables, you will find that there is a wide selection available. :D

The non-s/strut ae101's have the same basic subframe and suspension setup as the AE92 corolla's. So if you are looking for suspension bushes, balljoints and other bits ask for AE92 corolla parts. But, the part that I found was different between the two was the Lower Front Control Arm Inner Rear Bush (bit of a mouthful). These do not match for some reason.

If you are looking for a really nice set of adjustable coilovers, give Shock Absorber Services a ring. They do a set for your car for about $1200 and they look similar to the D2 anodised sets. Or you can price up a D2 set.

Hope this helps you a bit. When I had my AE101 Trueno non-s/strut, I was working for SAS and did quite a bit of research into what parts fit to it from other models and what doesn't. :D

As someone pointed out recently, TRD coilovers designed for your model will not require certing if all other requirements are met for ground clearance, travel etc.

What what what?

Ive got TRD coilovers on my ae92 and the wof is due soon, does that mean I wont need a cert for the suspension!? Or will the wof guy just see coilovers and say wheres the cert?

yeah i did a big double take too.

but its correct. TRD is considered OE under the definition laid out by the LTSA. you may need to point out the definition to them.

What about the 100mm part of the rule though? Yes they are height adjustable, but if you can get it under 100mm surely it should be cause for looking at?

I have no idea, just curious thats all. Whats going rate for a set of brand new TRD coilovers for say a Supra?

The fact you can adjust it below 100mm is irrelevant, it only matters if you do adjust it under the 100mm threshold.

Bugger I think that just went out the window for me. I've got Cusco camber plates, would that mean cert for me?

Yup, if you don't have TRD (i.e. OE) top plates then you will need a Cert as I understand it. Though nothing a can of blue paint and taking the Cusco sticker off and stamping it with TRD won't fix. (If you don’t want to cough for a cert for a while/ever).

Though I have never seen a set of TRD adjustable top plates in all the searching for a set I have done, but I am sure someone wiser than me could point you to some.

K Sport is another cheap Taiwanese coilover you can get, seem pretty much the same as the D2 from what I have seen of them and around $1200 plus fitting but that is piss easy, just don’t forget to get a wheel alignment straight after!

im working at the christchurch branch and adj coilovers are available but i think the have to brought in from malaysia

they are called BC coilovers

Small correction, K-Sport is Japanese designed, Taiwanese made =D (I'm just being picky, incase someone starts a confusion-argument stating they thought they were Japanese..) And they are pricey for AE92/others =/

Are AE100 items suitable?

there a upside down desing so have the massive 55mm stantions
i could be perswaded to sell them
