I run a 20W50 oil in my Sentra (a SR20 motor with 287,000km on the clock) even though it is designed to use 10W40 (from memory). If I use the thinner-grade like as Mobil 1 I have to top up after around 6,000km whereas with the Magnatec I currently use I can go a full 10,000km no with problems. This even though the car doesn't appear to blow any smoke.
Also check if there is a weeping seal or something. I know on the Sentra there are a couple of oil leaks around the oil pressure sensor (and somewhere else I haven't looked) that isn't bad enough to leave oil marks on the driveway but the engine block is caked in the stuff and it could make a difference over a longish period.
I remember reading a discussion on here a few months ago about what the oil grades mean, it could be worth your while searching that too to see if helps.
We know that four-wheel drive doesn't work in a racing car, and I proved to myself that it doesn't work very well for rallycross. I'm absolutely convinced that it has no future in rallying, either, even if the regulations allowed it. - Roger Clark (rallying legend), circa 1976
