AE85 Qs: Heater Blower Resistor & Wiper Motor

Postby Stealer Of Souls » Mon Feb 20, 2006 12:31 pm

Hey all.

My wiper motor is dying of old age and has a habit of not stopping at the end of a stroke. Sometimes it will stop almost half way up the windscreen after finishing it's last proper stroke.
So the question is. Are the AE92 wiper motors and AE85 wiper motor the same? I've got an AE92 one here and was hoping someone could shed some light before I go taking stuff apart to see if it fits/works.

Also. Where is the heater blower resistor in an AE85? I don't remember seeing one when i last took my fan controls apart. It must be quite a big resistor. Does anyone know what the wattage on it is?
Has anyone ever tried retrofitting a variable control onto the blower motor?
I was thinking I could replace the original resistor switch system with a Jaycar kit that does DC motor speed control...

Thanks all in advance

The original fan resistor is mounted in the fan motor housing in the flow of air to keep it from overheating. I have moved my one and fitted an aftermarket fan in the air con box and all works well,as the rollcage passed through the original fan motor (which weighs about a tonne)

Do you remember what fan (make/model) you used? Did you wire it up to the the original controls or just make up something?

I bought a bilge blower from the local marine shop, and fitted it in the aircon box wired to the original switch with the resistor remounted in the air con box
