if it isn't on the road, and isn't used at high speed, then any engineer could make one. make sure you allow for droop and compression if it has a live axle.

wont be on the road, may be high speed, their wanting to do it right... essencially their taking a WRX, and making an off roader(think beach buggy style) out of it, taking out almost the entire drive shaft(so centre diff about 4 inches, rear diff), we were looking at just welding it straight on to it(bolt it up, and weld the gaps :) ) but we figure that it should probably be done right if we intend to sit directly above a spinning shaft like that.

usually they make RWD ones it seems, but something different(and pretty cheap and easy to upgrade) is the way my mates and I seem to think.

it sounds like an easy shaft to build, take measuements to engineer or DIY and fit a sheild around it.

i'm going to start building one up for my boy using EA82 Leone running gear, but will reverse the polarity of the front diff, so the engine is in the back, and allowing it to be made 4wd at a later date. will take a lot of nutting out, as i want to build it to Sch. A. so i can use it for shingle sprints.
