ive got a 97 Levin and on saturday the seatbelt light started to flash when my seat belt was on but when i pulled it out a bit more or let it back in it would turn off... now im guessing what ever tells it that its off is just playing up and was just wanting any ideas how 2 fix it or jus to get rid of it???

my 97 levin did the same thing, and in the end i couldnt get the light to go off, or find the sensor for it, so I pulled the bulb out of the dash, easy 5 minute fix

well i hooped into my car this morning and it has just desided to fix itself... it was alrite again 2day on way home so i just hope it stays like it is now

yeah theyre a bit touchy... my mums corolla 2 windy thing has the same thing. i just disconnected the sensor in the seat.. didnt seem to have any detrimental effects on the running of the car..

also if you get an anal VTNZ guy on your case he'll get all specific.

Or rather than doing all that hard work getting the dash out and back in again just reach under the seat and unplug it, 9 times out of 10 and indeed on the older 101 models this was all that was required to make the light on the dash go out. I suggest you try that before pulling your dash to bits

thats what someone said about the catalytic convertor light.
the way i see it, if you unplug it you risk leaving an open circuit.
that means the system assumes the seatbelt isn't engaged and the light
stays on permanently.
there's only 1 way to find out though...
