JBL components blown a fu fu

Postby gordon77 » Mon Feb 27, 2006 12:31 pm

hey ppl my mate has some (very nice) jbl components in his front doors a jbl 4ch amp to power and medium line pioneer h/u to provide signal.
now the problem is after he removed his sub to fit sumthing into the boot the right side of his components dont go. if u crank the volume up all it does is spits out a very muffled/distored low level signal. im not sure how car x/overs work but if they are anything like the ones i got at work it means that its cooked a cap somwhere along the line. im not sure how he would have done this by just disconecting the sub.

just wondering what your thoughts are. i havnt been to hear it yet but he is onto it and would have descriped it like it is. told him to swap the channels over on the amp to see eliminate the amp as the problem but he hasnt got back to me
What is RR?

Same thing happend to me, one speaker went sweet (eg front left) and the front right spat out disorted sounds..

Could be a broken channel on the amp as i found, try elminating the amp buy running the speaker directly off the headunit, or he could of blown that speaker?

tell him to check the earths.
or possibly he shorted the sub wires together, blowing one of the channels.

or maybe a wire has come loose

just go over the wires and earths, probably something basic
