short shifter dimensions

I know someone whos a pretty talented whizbang with 3d cad stuff etc and can model up a short shifter for me on the computer then have it turned on a lathe

so can anyone give me the thread, pitch and length for a short shifter for an 1989 ae92 gt corolla?

i was thinking maybe try get hold of trd somehow and see if they can provide me with it, but not sure if they'd want someone copying off their design :-\

not to hard to much around and rig one up yourself. Essentially what you want to do is raise the pivot point of the stick- so lenghtening the bottom and making up a spacer plate for the ball cradle. Length wise, many are the same length as a normal stick, as in a real 'race' situation, you still want the stick up high and close to the steering wheel. Have a google around, I know there is quite a bit of useful info out there.

just use a stock one, and tell him th epivot point needs to be 20-30mm further up the shaft.
youll also need to space the shifter cradle up the same amount

Hmmm, well considering I can already beat all the synchro's in my AE92, I don't think a short shifter would be good for the (remaining) life of my gearbox

Yeah, thought that was a bit far fetched lol

So does a short shifter put extra wear on the gearbox at all?
For a car with my mods is it even worth it? What else could I get done that isnt relatively expensive..

Not trying to be an ass but I thought you got this car for the price you did because of its originality?

But anyway - short shifter will not help your gearboxes lifespan, look at it this way - its essentially speeding up your shifts, with the corresponding effect on your synchros.

Does make driving the car a lot nicer though! Which can be as good as making it faster.
