question for people who know these gearboxes.
Is it possible to take the gearset out of a c160 and put them into a c52 or a c56 with no modification/fabrication?
Anyone done it? Anyone know someone whos done it?
edit: i'm only looking at transfering 2nd, 3rd, and 4th.

I'm in the process of doing something similar at the moment. I've got a C56 gearbox and a 6 speed (either a C60 or C160 - I'm not sure what the difference is) that I'm building a close-ratio 5 speed out of.
According to my mechanic who is doing the work swapping 3rd/4th/5th from the 6 speed into the 5 speed is relatively simple, the only trick is to get some shims made up to space out the gears (the gears in the 6 speed box are slightly thinner than in the 5 speed). I'm not sure about swapping 2nd gear... in my case I'll end up with better gearing by sticking with the 2nd out of the C56 anyway. I'll be talking to the mechanic doing the work in the next couple of days so I'll ask him about 2nd gear for you.

If your after a C160 gearset... I may just have one lying around.
