So are those 'pulses' from the trailer or the truck itself?
also, how bad would it have been if the trailer went all the way over and tipped the cab at the same time?

What the heck are you on?
In simple terms:
The trailer has abs sensors just like your car does (cog on the back of the hub). Sends a signal back to the trucks ECU which then controls the trailer abs system.
