Postby Vertigo » Wed Mar 08, 2006 4:27 pm

Take a Tin can, put in a bunch of really angry bees and shake it.

Listen to the sound...that is what they sound like. :P

I'll try and do it phonetically woohoo I spelt it right

"brrrrrrAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA"

*pause for gear change* - sometimes you get an even more obnoxious noise on decell -

"brrrrrrAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA"

and on to third gear, and so on and so forth.

They may go relatively well, but don't go expecting an aural symphony

Turbo? What turbo? :P That whine you're hearing is intake induction at the TVIS change over point. Its a largeport engine (as stated next to the video) and has a set of butterflies that open at around 4400RPM for greater volumes of air.
It does it on mine too.

That particular 4AGE belongs to a member here, as he posted that video in the multimedia section.
It had a bad knock so he got some new bearings, chucked them in and that was the end result. Not bad if you ask me :)
Motorsport is like sex. You could take it to track and have a long, enjoyable session, or you could take it to the strip and get it over with in less than 20 seconds.

Out with the old and in with the new and now it doesnt sound like I have stones in my exhaust

RB26DETT <slap!!>

1JZGTE <slap! Thats even a Toyota motor!>

Hmm, Honda C32B? <slap! quiver...>

VK45DE.. mmm....

You have two howling 6 cylinder turbo motors, a nice exotic sounding NA motor (from the inside they sound very much like something that could come from italy imho), and a dirty V8 that also revs. I reckon any of those motors count as a nice sounding motor in your average automotive fans ears.

No japanese 4cyl sounds nice, but then- the only 4cylinders I've heard which I kinda like were attached to bikes.

I slightly dis-agree.....

stock, injected 4a's sound yuk, but swap to some side drafts, and all of a sudden they sound like a 'proper' engine should. 8)

All 3 of mine (1xSupercharged-so I guess we can ignore it) have sounded mint :) Depends on Air Intake/Filter / Exhaust..

ALL 3 of mine have snapped flexi-joints though, I HATE THE SOUND OF THAT.. sounds so YUCK accelerating.. Cheap as to fix that though, only takes 15mins with the right tools :p

There are plenty of 4cylinders that sound amazing. Most are made by honda though. And im not talking loud zaust noises, im talking high revving, throughty, inductions noises. Have heard a few 4ages that sounded good too, and yeah, sidys help lots.
