I've semi done that on my car, I have a removable section of my exhaust for taking out for track days(seems to free it up in the mid and high revs), originally I was just going to leave it(the straight pipe instead of the cat and silencer), but it is too loud to enjoy driving(even though it is still well below the proposed legal limit).

Aka their owners are pricks...

they do not get refitted at the WOF.

if you deal with these bikes you would know that it is not the owners at all that have any say in the matter. the bikes are designed to make that level of noise. they are only quite during the run in period on the engine as they have a special baffled exhaust system to provide sufficient back pressure for the motor to run in properly.
with the run in pipes on they are dramatically under horsepowered...

try looking at it this way.

I'll bow to the words of experience - but it strikes me then that they shouldnt be legal at all on those grounds... if theyre designed to operate that way!!

TRD is an 'after market' product just like any other. It might be the best 'after market' product you can buy for your Toyota, but 'after market' it is none the less.

actually no...... by the LTSA's own definition TRD is not aftermarket. however factory parts still have to meet the rules such as noise etc
