Also - a lot of cars might sound MINT from inside the cabin, but outside make people want to cry.

Mate had an n/a silvia which was exactly that - from inside it sounded bloody cool, but outside the car you just wanted to jam a spud up the exhaust to shut it up, most obnoxious car I've ever heard.

Pod filter attached to a steel intake pipe running to the throttle body on a 4AGZE was one of the nicest sounding 4A's I've ever heard. Coupled with the s/charger whine ... all with factory exhaust and headers.

mines the exact opposite aye Mark

sidey's are wonderful things. my flatmate has 2 cortinas, one has a stock 2L, and sounds arse. But the other..... balanced, big cam, webbers, the sound is pure secks!

So, in conclusion, Sidedrafts good, "Cannon" mufflers bad.

Redtop 4age + silvertop quads + link + nice exhaust = SO NICE.

They sound extremely sharp and quick revving. I'll try to get a vid of one up for you in the next few days.

Damn you Al!

I went out to prove you wrong by recording the Bunderson on my phone. On idle it sounds like a rough 8, then the sewing machine cuts in... for some reason the phone cuts out all base.
I tried but I couldnt get it past about 5k RPM... deafening. For some reason with the exhaust pointing backwards and muffled by a helmet it doesnt sound anywhere near as irritating or cutting.

Post link as soonish.
The answer is Helmholtz!

is this a pretty typical 4age sound? minus the obvious turbo whine. just wondering what to expect once mine is running.
