sports or big bore

what do you guys prefer? sports exhaust or a big bore exhaust.

for a 20v what do you think is better? 8)

is it because its not as LOUD as big bore ?

o yea one more thing, will using sports save more petrol than big bore ...

fuel prices so expensive :cry:

20v's sound shit with big exhaust's, 2.5" is too big for a 20v.

the last one i did i replaced a 2.5" system with a 2" stainless with 2 resonators etc. actually sounded ok, not loud and obnoxious.
owner said it went better with the 2" system.

but isnt the factory 20v's already 2" ???

sports has more low mid torque and less at the end ?

and big bore has nothing down low and less mid and most torque at high. am i right ?

just get the right size exhaust for your engine

most 4ages 2 1/4 is about right

I'm still waiting to hear a definition of the difference between 'sports' and 'big bore'

In the mean time, I would suggest you want a super turbo/baffled muffler, and atleast one, preferably 2 resonators, 2", mandrel bent and as straight as possible.

What's the point of making it as straight as possible, if you're going to use a super turbo muffler?

Don't they quiet it down, by making the gas effectively to a 360 degree loop inside the muffler? :?

Im guessing the point here is something about making NOISE
ie big bore that is attached to almost every Civic, DX, starlet <add car here>... on saturday nights
or more favourably creating FLOW which does not necessarily involve large quantities of NOISE. This increases HP (oooo .25hp! )and fuel economy if done correctly...

I was talking to a friend about exhasts for my GTZ since I had heard that the standard exhast on 20v and GTZ is actually very good flow....

:D say "No" to stupid canister exhasts, stay tasteful people... :roll:

well ... that is not true. if you have a straight thought exhuast from the extractors back and with no mufflers just a just ... isnt that FREE FLOWING ? then that means you will have no low and mid end torque becausue you have loss at the back purssure and the fuel economy will go down and yes increases HP but only at high end ...

can someone correct me if im wrong.

bigbore - straight thought almost free flow ( i guess )

Erm those arent exhaust systems at all, they are muffler/cannons for the rear of the system.

Sports and big bore exhausts? Think you have lived your life playing too much GT, need for speed etc?

As for the "Will a more free flowing exhaust give me a different torque band", yeah it will but having a "Big" exhaust all the way (not just a muffler) will make your car slower and sound worse (depending on size etc). Just get a 2" or 2 1/4" through 1 or 2 resonators and a muffler at the end.

If you only replace the muffler your car will sound gay and you will most likely gain nothing

gtz's are 2 1/4. dont know what 20v's are.
na cars need back pressure. if it was turbo then thats a different story.

who cares if the standard exhaust is 2". if a desent system is designed and fitted it will be much better than standard, and if done properly wont sound shit like 95% of the 20v's
