Is there anyway the cops can tell that i have a locked diff...
I can just say that ive got an LSD cant i ?
It is exactly for those type of reasons that we have such tough regulations governing modifications and with that attitude, they will only get worse. If you are going to do it - get it done legally.

lsd's don't make the insde tyre squeal like a 5 year old that's not allowed mcd's for tea on smooth ashphalt, een at low speed

i am aware of at least 1 guy that was done for manslaughter for using a lock diff on the road in NZ
it subsequently broke the wheel studs, wheel came off and killed a kid.
do you really want that on your conscience?
air lock kits are available, failing that get a lsd.
when you corner, the out side wheel has to go further and the inside one a lesser distance,
this causes it to skip, squeal and bounce over the road,
it causes stress on everything from wheels, wheel studs, axles, diff and driveline.
an open or lsd compensates for this and allows one to turn more or less accordingly

Seconded.
LSD is just the better way to go. As evil_si said, you've got wheels spinning at different speeds when going round a corner. The LSD will evenly deliver the power to help keep the traction stable.
Motorsport is like sex. You could take it to track and have a long, enjoyable session, or you could take it to the strip and get it over with in less than 20 seconds.

Well, and this is just my opinion, shared by few, ignored by most, that if you can't break the tyres loose whilst rolling in 2nd, you don't need a locker or even a LSD.
A well setup car running a open diff is unbeatable round corners, thus why a lot of the high-spec mercs, bmw's, jags, etc have open diffs for all but the top-shelf models.
Or do you want it just so you can do 2 wheel burnouts...

obviously u have never seen nor heard a lock diff , otherwise u wood know u couldnt get away with tryin to say it was a lsd one .
Listen to wot evil si has said , the amzingly loud knockin and shaking tht comes from it as u try to corner is quite humourous , to think tht u could get away calling it an lsd unit is even funnier

they probably wont be able to tell. however they will think its strange, and give you a pink/green sticker so you have to get it checked.
