Recovering of Roof.

Where would i take my car to get the roof lining recovered in Christchurch. Its the factory carpet stuff at the moment but will just get it covered in grey vinyl.

What kinda car is it? Bow headlining or a pull down cardboard one? Could be able to sort you out something.

Its the pull down cardboard one. I could do it myself i have a heat gun and have done interior work before. Where would i buy the vinyl and glue from?

Vinyl could be purchased from Reid & Twiname, Shakespeare Road, and glue, I dunno, most hardware stores, even the warehouse does Bostich reasonably cheap, is def advisable to spray it tho as opposed to brushing it on.

I was thinking of some sort of carpet glue due to having to gule onto carpet. Iv used some before it was brown and very easy to use.

use the brush on glue unless you want it to be falling down in 6months time,

use it properly as well brush on both surfaces and leave to get tackky and then stick otgehter

Just rang them they quoted $280.00 I think ill just do it myself or wait till im feeling rich. I think it would be the easiest thing to cover out of a whole car. Just heat it up to mold it to the roof shape then glue.

does that include the fabric ?

if so i would be pretty happy with that price it sounds about $50 over the tops

but i would be happy with that, if it was a proffessional job and was done correctly and came with a warrenty to say its not going to fall down

Alright, so what kinda car is it? I worked in the auto upholstery trade for about 2 & 1/2 years so know the ins and outs of headlinings. You chosing to go vinyl for what reason? You plan on spraying/covering your sunvisors aswell.

At the end of the day vinyl is going to be the trickier option as there is usually abit of shape around where the sunvisors fold up into the headlining, which means a higher chance of the glue lifting, regardless of how gooder quality the glue is.

I also fully recommend you remove all traces of the old fabric aswell, otherwise you'll just be asking for trouble covering over top. Also I do have to recommend spraying the glue from a air powered spray gun, this makes for alot better,thinner and more even coverage, the vinyl can react if too much is put on which oftens happens when you brush it on creating bubbles.

booked it in and banks $200, im going to get it covered in the factory cloth as this is a safer bet. The reason im getting it covered is because i had a roof mounted tv and have taken it out so need to fix the holes. What would you suggest to used to fill these, or will they just cover over them.
