In my mind its just a 'rice' modification that has no real function; covering up a cracked lense? pfft... lenses crack. Big deal - replace, or live with it.l

Who defines it? The mechanic that gives me my WOF, the cops that follow me at night and dont have a problem with it. I dont really give a toss about the cracked lense, ive already got another set of tail lights sitting here waiting to go on, and they will when I sell it. It has no real function? Do 17" rims have a function? Yes...looks, same with the stockings/smoked tail lights.

Anyway.....It comes down to personal preference. Some people like it some people dont. You need to see it in person before you go calling ghey etc.

You could argue the traction factor (For the 17" rims, not the lights  )

Before I go getting myself banned im leaving it at that. Speeding is illegal, most people still do it... People dont crash their cars because of my lights being tinted. Seriously.....if it was life threatning then I wouldnt think twice about putting them on, and if the lights at night were not showing through I would take them off. Its only a little thing so get over it, if you think it looks crap then whoop di do, think I care?

yet...

if someone with borderline sight(plenty out there) heading up behind you in the rain/drizzle/late night/blinding oncoming traffic, and you happen to be stopped, you better hope that they can see you well enough.

Unless you have actually seen his lights I don't think you can comment.

I think putting stockings over your lights is retarded, but if they still work fine (ie. pass a warent) then there's no problem. His tail lights are probably still heaps brighter than all cars made before 1970.

sorry, yeah, I totally agree, I wasn't meaning just him, was meaning in general.

If you read what blakjak wrote earlier, it doesn't matter what we think is "ok" or that they may be brighter than car lights made prior to 1970, laws have changed since then, standards raised, and todays laws supercede the laws of 1970.

tastes change, I used to think that the dark lights looked good, now there is only one or two that I think it looks good on, and those ones have it internally(not sure how, dyed lenses maybe?).

I think I'm getting older and my personal tastes are changing, no longer caring what others think, heh, maybe just old age(26) cynicism :)

either way, if you want to put stockings on your lights, go for it, a poll doesn't tell you anything other than that X number of people could be bothered doing

a, reading this thread.
b, making a choice.
c, hitting a button rather than closing it.

It's a fairly limited group of people(320 views out of 6030 registered users, 5.3%), and only 35 votes, or 0.58% of registered users.
