offset measurements for mags

how is the offset of a mag measured? is it from the inside face of the wheel (the part that sits on the face of the hub) to the outside of the mag or what? i'm guessing not as most mags are 35mm or so and this measurement would be well over that

so where is it measured from?

also, I have mags with the 4 x 114 stud pattern which I understand to be the stud pattern for most oldschool RWD cars. these mags will not fit on my ke35 without [approximately] 35mm adaptors. why are there mags with a rwd stud pattern but fwd offset. are there fwd cars with 4x114 stud pattern?

35m is heaps. I'm not sure its thats certifiable even if you use adaptor plates.
The offset is from where the wheel bolts on to the centre of the mag as i understand.. and yes there are quite afew fwd 4x114.3 vehicles. Even most new sylvias, cefiros etc with 4x114.3 pattern are actually fwd offset.

yea thats my problem, the biggest I can get certed is 25mm. and I already have certs anyway :roll:

preferebly I would like to find some struts that I can bolt straight into my ke35 (so no need for certs) that will allow these mags to fit without adaptors. I've got some corona struts but they only just don't fit. maybe 10mm adaptors would be enough? but they would still require certs wouldn't they?

im not worried about passing WOFs, i'm more worried about whether my insurance would be invalid if I was involved in an accident and had the adaptors on and they were uncerted.

Insurance would not pay out if you had items on your car uncerted at the time of the acident (that required certing)

not from what I read/understood on the LVVT or LTSA website (can't remember which). It said that if it bolts on and no mounting points have been changed or altered or anything then a cert is not required.
