blowing up a p.o.s 4af

Postby touge rolla » Tue Mar 21, 2006 9:02 pm

can anyone think of any reasons (like safety) why i shouldn't finish off my soon to be binned 4af by parking it in neutral putting a brick on the accelerator and seeing how long it will go for???

if you drill a hole in the radiator hose it'll go for 15-20 mins before it simply runs outta compression from being cooked. Speaking from experience, toyota's are the sadest things to do brick on accelerator blow ups with. they never throw rods, they never drop their guts in a big way, they just get so bloody hot they slowly come to a halt, and not from seizing either.

have a play with the timing and everything else you can adjust :)

thinners into the carb, changing spark leads around, putting the hose onto the dipstick hole and filling the block with water

use your imagination :)

hrmm, see how lean u can get it? try run it on start ya bastard? um pee on it? throw bananas at it while valve bouncin it? think, be resourcefull.

Bad idea, did it once, smells really bad and makes you wanna hurl.

Put gravy in the sump and pea soup in the radiator so they look like oil and antifreeze respectively.

Working at a dismantlers we religiously blow up a few cars each christmas. Last year we did a GX60 cressida with 1GEU, sat on 8000rpm for 15 mins before finally running outta compression. Could still crank it with the starter but sounded like the plugs weren't at home. a few years ago we did an SX70 Cresta with a 2SE rwd. It got so hot the front cambelt cover was half melted off and the dizzy got so hot the area around the locator pins/screws in the cap melted the timing altered so much it stopped.

Honda's are the best for blow ups, pretty much guaranteed to put at least 1 rod thru the block, will then run on 3 cylinders and put a 2nd thru the block.

dam i was hoping it would put a rod through the block, maybe i will pull the spark plugs out, place various items into the cylinders then crank it. or attack it with sledge hammer whilst running

Play with the timing so it knocks to death.
Put oil in the fuel (won't kill it but is good fun anyway)
Put nitro fuel from a radio controlled car in it
Take off the air filter and feed in polystyrene bean bag beads

Something that requires some effort - take the sump off and loosen up one of the big ends

Got firearms? A round through the cam cover might have intesting results while it's sitting on rev cut.

we had a old mitzi mirage once....tried to kill it the bugger went for 10mins with the old brick to the floor, untill the radiator overflow blew water into the carb and stalled it, we then thaught it would be a perfect oppertunity to put about 5handfulls of dirt in the oil filler cap as with about a liter of water to wash it down.....she ran for about 2more mins before throwing a rod and kept going on 3cylinders the poor thing just wouldnt die until a awful bang when part of the rod locked up the crank at 7000rmps :D :D

ahhhh good fun
