dual voice coil to amp.

hi, i got one of these the other day http://www.parallelimported.co.nz/view.php?item=5733 and it goes pretty well, im running it off a 400wrms amp but its only getting 200w as its a 4 chan and the other 2 channels are running front/ back speakers. Im running the sub in a series connection. WOuld it be better to run it in parralel?
And, can i run chan 1&2 to one voice coil and 3&4 to the other, or would this cause damage?

I'm no expert but I'm pretty sure it will be fine if you bridge channels 1 & 2 to one voice coil and 3 & 4 to the other, as long as they are set similarly - ie gain and crossover... as for series and parallel it depends on what sort of an Ohm load your amp can handle... connecting in parallel will lower the Ohms and usually get more RMS power from your amp but can cause it to overheat if it's not within spec

Yeah that will be fine to do that.

When I get my Dual 4 DD Sub I'm going to have 2 eAudio 1000D amps running a coil each so yeah it does work fine

unless you can confirm the power outputs of each amp are identical and your using a split mono signal to each amp thats identical, i wouldnt do it... i've seen subs wired like that, and even with slight variations in output power, the coils can become unattached from each other... which is bad!

The best thing to run a DVC sub with is a two channel power amp... with everything set the same. This way it helps reduce any issues with possible manufaturing faults due to different batches on two different amps outputting at different sound levels and frying your sub.

I imagine when he said he was getting a Dual 4 DD, he's getting a Dual 4 Ohm....which is pretty stupid to waste a 1000D on a 4 Ohm load.....but whatever tickles his fancy

Strapping the 1000D's and running the coils in Parallel could be more fun

and strapped 1000d's with dual 4's is all good for 1 ohm loads, but when you're playing spl games there is always impedence rise accordingly
