FXGT weight vs Levin weight

Postby FXGTV » Wed Mar 22, 2006 7:40 pm

I have been trying to work out the weight of my ae92 fxgtv. One site i found claimed the weight to be 1020kg. I wanted somethimg to compare this figure to so i checked the same site for the weight of a GT Apex levin, which was stated to be 1110kg. Is this accurate? I assumed that the FX would be much lighter than a solid levin...i dont even have side impact bars ffs!

Here are the web sites where i got the info from...
http://www.cars-directory.net/specs/toy ... 89_5/2554/

next car - another a-dub please!

My levin is so light weight it doesnt even have badges 8O

Seriously I think the factory quote on ae92 levin is 1020 kg, ae101 is quoted 1080kg both dry weights

According to my Haynes manual the kerb weight of the GTi16 is 1075kg while my AE92 rally car is just on 950kg with stripped interior, full rollcage, standard doors, wind-up windows, glass etc. Therefore the FXGTV is probably somewhere between the two, so the 1020kg probably isn't too far off.
We know that four-wheel drive doesn't work in a racing car, and I proved to myself that it doesn't work very well for rallycross. I'm absolutely convinced that it has no future in rallying, either, even if the regulations allowed it. - Roger Clark (rallying legend), circa 1976

Depends hugely on options...

I mean AC or not can make 20kgs difference.

If you want to know how much your car weighs, take it to the dump. 8)

EDIT: To be weighed, not crushed into a cube. :P

Just weighed my ae92 levin.

Total weight: 1120kg
Minus my weight: 1040kg

Sounds about right considering dry weight is 1020 quoted. Add water, oil, all fluids, fuel and that should give around 1040kg.

Full trim, 1/4 tank of gas.

I have a feeling the relative sizes compared to the relative weights of the fx vs levin are around the same. The levin appears to be physically larger however i've noticed the fx has a lot more glass
