car won't start! need help! redtop 4age

Postby Helious » Fri Mar 24, 2006 10:54 am

Hiya,

I turn the key, it went to start and then started clicking a shitload and VERY quickly.......

The battery isn't flat or anything, all the dash lights are sweet.. I had a feeling something was wrong when my car alarm went off 10 times during the night..........

HELP!!!

Someone said the starter motor? give it a whack with a wrench or something? Where's the starter motor?(i'm sure I used to know, now I can't see it -- last engine I had was a 4agze though, so not sure how different they are re: starter motor location)

erm, just because your dash lights are ok, doesnt mean your battery is. (Jesus christ, lol)

Think about it, tiny little lights vs big $&#$% starter motor to turn over.
The lights dont pull much current from the battery.

Charge the battery, the car alarm was probably going off due to a door not closed properly or something to that effect (voltage drop from the battery losing power would set off the alarm.

if your battery is flat and you alternator is screwed, youll never get spark, my bongo did this. Charge the battery then try it.

Yeah, thought about that after the first 15minutes of $&#$% around, enabled and disabled my alarm, everything seems fine..

I'm sure it's not a flat battery

I can turn my headlights on, turn my fan on, have the dash lights on, turn my subs/amp on..

We tried pushing it and it just died..................................................

Will a car push-start if the starter motor is screwed?

I think I found the starter motor, it's in a c**t of a place too, can't bang it or anything where it is(under the manifold/extractor pipes)..

ah well, called my manager at work, told him what's up~ he's like "well, keep me updated" - so it doesn't seem so bad..

a fuxed battery normally wont let you push start

go buy/borrow a decent battery and try that

checked starter motor/engine fuses? (normally in a black box in the engine bay)

i have just been having similar problems with me ZE. Im my case i needed to charge the battery as mine was clicking also. You will find things such as dash lights and stereo wont pull a high voltage wheras the starter motor will. As the others have said time and time again try charing it. And crash starting it with a fu*%d battery wont do anything.

The starter motor is in a weird [place your right but you said it is under the extractors....it should be under the inlet manifold realistically. Mind you tho my gear box had a bracket at the front where is could go...hmmm

hahaha, sorry bones ! i don't know too much about cars, my starter is under the inlet manifold :p I just thought that that was the same as extractors lol

My problem is fixed now anywho, I called the phone number on my battery to see if it still had the warranty - they couldn't work it out over the phone, so sent an AA battery van-dude out for me and he gave me a battery that's twice the size of my last one ~

I had to pay for it, but for peace of mind, all good.

Oh yeah, my original battery had -no- water covering the cells, they were burnt/dry/$&#$%..

No offence, but if you followed everyone advice the first time about the battery then you would of fixed the problem a hell of a lot faster..

But ah well, good thats its going again.

Interesting you say that.

I replaced the battery at the earliest convenience.

Earliest convenience means - as early as possible.

Car didn't start on Friday. Had to get to work. Got to work. Looked at car on Saturday morning. Was fixed on Saturday morning.

What the $&#$% is your point?
