4 to 5spd..

Postby RS13 » Sun Mar 26, 2006 8:34 pm

Hi all,

Just purchased an a to b car, for the huge price of $350! 1987 Ep71 Starlet, reg and wof, 190,000kms, runs mint, but its' only 4spd, and may see a fair bit of highway driving (80-100km/h), how much work is involved in sticking a 5spd in it? I assume EP71s (with the 2E-LU) come 5spd.. does anyone know the model number for the 5spds? Mine is an "XL", the granny-pack carb version..

I'd need gearbox, linkages.. ?

Just remember if you are changing to a 5 speed you need the 5 speed half shafts as the 4 speed ones dont fit, well one fits the other is a bit long
