Fuel Injection

Postby 20v_rollaboy » Tue Mar 28, 2006 8:41 pm

Hey there people, Im looking at buying a Corolla Sedan which has a 1300 carby (2e I think).

If I do end up buying it its not gonna stay carby for too long, so what I would like to know is what would I need to change to put an injected engine in it.

Fuel lines, fuel tank, any electrics?

Gauge cluster dosnt have rev counter, can I just swap it for one with one?

Thanks people

this might turn out to be an extremely interesting thread, would be keen to hear what people think. ive got a 2A currently with a 4AGE being built to replace it.

depending what the chassis number is, you may find the same vehicle comes out efi already, so would just be a matter of getting everything from one car, and swapping it to the next.

Yea the same model does come out with a 4afe engine, so would I be better going to pick a part or a wreckers and pulling out all the stuff I need?

yeah, thats what iv done with my starlet, was originally carby, but now running a 4age, so i got a fuel tank from an ep71 turbo starlet, upgraded the pump, and it bolted straight into the original place with all the lines etc,

you will need to change the loom though to suit an electronic pump if it currently has a mechanical one

From what i can remember is that 2E's have a different drivers side engine mount location, where it bolts to the chassis compared to a 4A.

I had a quick look round the engine bay specifically for that reason, and I couldnt see any difference.

And I would get the mounts with the new engine, and modify the existing mounting to suit if I needed to.

for those of us doing carb > efi conversions, what must be swapped around?

when i did my ta23

put surge tank and high pressure pump in engine bay and used origanal lines back to low pressure pump
so no need to change anything
although a bolt in efi tank would make things easy

I had a 2E, god that thing was a heap of crap.
Might I interest you in a 4E-FTE swap?

Do you have a spare 4efte?? :)

But I think putting a 1300 in a corolla wouldnt be such a good idea, especially since I allready have one :D and know how it goes.

Not saying that it dosnt go good, just that I would rather put a 1600 or bigger in it
