Repairing dash cracks

my ke35 dash has a few cracks in it and I'm going to fix them up while its out of the car.

what would be the best, cost effective way to go about this? im thinking something along the lines of filling the cracks with a bit of bog, sanding it even with some rough sandpaper to get the same sort of texture as the dash then painting over it.

pretty straight forward and easy, or is there something Im missing? the bog shouldn't turn to sh*t in the heat should it?
or does anyone else have any better ideas or advice?

Depends on what sort of finish you want I guess.

Dont know if you will get a close enough match to the original pattern with bog, assuming its the usual small dimple effect on the dash. And no bog shouldnt turn to cr@p in the heat, although depending on how thin the area to be filled is it could possibly crack with vibration.

Is recovering the dash an option? If so this is the track I would take, get the whole thing done then you dont have to worry about doing the same process again and again latter on down the track as other areas start to do the same

no I don't want to get the whole dash recovered. If I was to get it recovered would they be able to patch the type of finish to what it currently has? Or would it have to be with a fabric?
I doubt I would get an exact match with the pattern in sanding it, but it is kinda over the back out of the way so a slight difference in the pattern wouldn't really be noticable. It would look a lot better than it does now anyway.

The cracks are kinda deep so shouldn't be probably with it vibrating and cracking. How thin is thin?

Yeah you could patch it as its just a vinyl finis.

If the cracking etc is in an out of the way area then you could get away with the bog & sanding, but I like the sound of Cams idea more, just gives it a better looking finish.

"How thin is thin?" I was talking in terms of a light skim so say 1 - 2 mm etc in depth, at that depth you would forever be repairing or replacing that section.
