Road tuning a 4agte with LinkPlus (wgtn based)

Postby ~SlideWays~ » Fri Mar 31, 2006 12:39 pm

Hey,

I've got a linkplus with hand controller. Is it worth road tuning via the hand controller vs. dyno tuning ($'s).

I will put on a dyno in future to fine tune but since i've got the hand controller I thought it might be an option to get someone who's experienced to do a road tune. This would obviously be better than the base map at least.

Also as per topic, is there anyone in wgtn that would be good to go see about this?

Cheers

Oh really? I thought they would just use their dyno now that they have one. Maybe that was before they got it?

Hmmm might have to do some ringing around once its installed. Im just wondering if there is anyone who has done it before.

Nah they used to hire the dyno at chequered flag before they got their own..

Have a chat to andre and see what he can do for you on a road tune, and how much it'll set you back.

From what i understand he does a bit of a road tune as well following the dyno tunes he does

its beter to road tune first, save money on $&#$% around on getting the base maps, save money buying a boost controllor as you use it to on the dyno for the heaps more power/tonque then head to the dyno to get all the power out of your motor.

matt at gtr shop/japanese performance tuned the green silvia, running a link of some type. that thing make crazy power, running a stress free set up it.
he got a wide band O2 sensor so u can keep a/f nice and rich when tuing.

yeah speedtech do roadtunes so does Alister at Mcclennon performance but he uses Richard Gilles Dyno (Cheq Flag) for Dyno Tunes. A mate just had his Rex Dynoed by Andre and it cost him $350

I actually ran my race car on a road tune for a year with no bad effects.

I actually did it with a narrow band sensor and the linkplus's self tuning function. It went quite good. Was probably a bit rich to make the best power, but as long as it was not lean enough to melt things and not rich enough to foul plugs that's all i was after at the time.

I have no idea how accurate it was as I did larger injectors a few days before i went for a dyno tune.

Nothing wrong with that.

I'm pretty much the same.

Will fit them and can tune them, but prefer not too.
