Hey. Is it possible to convert an early model diff to late model diff?Drifter4ag wrote:they will fit in the housing but you will require a facelift diff head or TRDLSD
Ah rats. Now I wished I'd know this before. I would've done this instead of buying an LSD to fit the early model I've got...Drifter4ag wrote:yes ..
buy the TRD late model head.
Locate some axles
when i did mine one axle was too long ... dunno if they are all like that.. i just chopped a couple o mm off it .. right hand side it was.

and with the TRD lsd you dont need to trim the axles
Hmm.. So the late model axles are probably a fair chunk tougher...Drifter4ag wrote:in the D1GP 03/04 season there was a turbo AE86 Trueno - Up garage sponsored - 300hp + 50shot of nos ... this was running late model diff & axles .. it was later changed to IRS G series .. they never show how many things they break but i guess it was every now and then.. probably ok when moving but i wouldnt wanna do too many burnouts if you have alot of grip or tramp
90% sure it's the shaft size, not the splines.rollaholic wrote:sorry to revive such an old thread, but where on the axle do you measure to determine its size? across the splines?
