FWD DRAG DAY 24th JUNE

Postby gtpornstar » Fri Apr 07, 2006 11:49 am

EXPRESION OF INTEREST/SUGGESTIONS

Place - Meremere (just 60Km south of Auckland)
Date - Sat 24th June 2006
Gates Open 8.30AM
Cost - $50 (includes FULL Timing Printout), Free for Viewers
CARS MUST HAVE WOF AND REG (No cars allowed to run sub 12 Sec Times)
YOU MUST HAVE A HELMET, NO skimpy clothing and must no Jandals/Sandals

Ok basically we are judging interest on holding this day in June as we want to get full timing in use so we get our 60 ft times and at the same time want to keep it small so that we get a decent set of runs in. Hence the price may fluctuate slightly, if we end up over charging people with regards to entry fees we will refund racers. If it is rained out we will refund racers after we pay Champion Dragway's costs of a rain out. Basically we are not keeping any profit from this.
Will try to keep the numbers to under 60. There will be a little sizzle on the day

Stu (4agte) will be collecting entry fees prior to the day as we will only reserve a spot for you wih payment and need a minimum number of cars to be able to pay for the track.

It is a requirement that we dont have cars running sub 12.0 s (cars running under 12s passes are not considered as a street car so thats why
over 12s passes you must have a wof and reg). If we however get many people interested that think they will run a sub 12 then we may look into
this but at this stage not too many FWD's would be sub 12 I think :).

Suggestion for Format of the day

8:30 Officials Briefing
9:00 Gates Open
9:30 Scrutineering Opens
10:00 Track Opens
11:00 Grudge Racing
11:30 Scrutineering Closes
12:00 Lunch
12:30 Fastest FWD Knockouts
13:30 DYO Comp
14:00 Grudge
15:00 Track Closes
Cleanup Time

We are looking for volunteers for the day, so please dont be shy to send me a PM or just come along and join in the fun.

Please spread the word and if you know any other forums I could put this out on let me know, started it on the Starlet Central Forums where we have around 20 interested at the moment.

Please do not reply to this thread unless its a suggestion, PM me if you are keen to race (please also include if your definite or just interested at this stage and your Name and contact numbers).

any reason why only fwd? I think you'd struggle to get the numbers if it was limited to just Toyota, further limiting it to FWD basically means starlets, corollas and celicas, so you're really limiting possible entries

he explained why its limited to FWD it gets very expensive to hire the track once you get sub 12 cars racing, i think we should fill the numbers fine already have 15 or so racers so come on guys :) will be a mint day ;p

I fully understand how we are really only appealing to a small audience but that was the objective. We wanted to limit the numbers at this drag day so as to keep it manageable and for everyone to get a lot of runs in.

Why FWD ? I think a lot of FWD racers are put off coming to the drags because they have to line up against a rear wheel drive supra/skyline/etc.

We are actually only looking for 50-60 racers in order to hold the event ... which means each racer gets to do heaps of runs.

HOWEVER, if we dont get the numbers then we will be opening it to others as well, but obviously it may not appeal to the faster cars as we cant run sub 12's.

Who would be keen if it was opened up to all Toyota's ?

yeah you could just say - all Toyotas but noone doing under 12s
You'd be doing well to get 60 Toyota folks to show up I think :) Usually the most under-represented Japanese car make at drag days

I think you missed the part where we want to keep this small and manageable :)

Yeah we could run classes but we want to keep it small and interesting and get a lot of runs ... more classes you have the more time it takes lining up etc etc.

Anyways will keep you all posted ... Anyone else ?
