I went through the same check point bout 30min's before the fella done the runner.. I was at a mate's having a few quiet's but still stopped to get breath tested.. On approach to the check point there were cop car's on either side ready for exactly that reason for people that don't stop or do runner's!! Just stupidity really he's lucky himself and the 2 girl's are still alive..

I actually find it quite odd/disturbing that the driver was the only one wearing a seat belt, I mean I know they had been drinking, but even when I've fallen into a taxi I've always managed to get my seatbelt on prior to them moving the vehicle.

Hope the occupants are alright, I heard that the drivers GF(assuming front seat passenger) had hand injuries, but who knows about the rumours, hope they(the rumours) are wrong for her sake.

hope someone molests the guy when he is thrown in jail, and yeah, I know it's a bit harsh, but ffs, theres no need for stupid sh|t like that.

Yeah I drove past the scene today and he hit before the bridge going over towards the city so he must have really really screwed it up.

According to the ODT report he lost control further down the hill and managed to get it back and still went hell for leather over the top, MORON!!.

And I totally agree with barryogen, He will never get what he deserves for doing that in our system. And lets not forget people he is also ruining it for the rest of us. This is exactly the thing that is going to get power restrictions placed on young drivers etc, and while that won't affect me being an old bastard and all alot of the members are quite young and it could well affect them or people coming into thier license.

my 3.5c

Can't believe there are people stupid enough to speed over the top of that hill anyway - almost fast enough at 50 km/h let alone twice that.

in my younger, much more stupid, believing I was bulletproof days I went over there a tad over 100km/h, right hand lane drifting into the left as you go over the rise, and I didn't get airborne, so I suspect that the speed that they will find he was doing will be well in excess of that.

not condoning it either, just stating my little experience.

didn't need a powerful car either... it was in my 85 corolla 1300... mighty little car has been "written off" three times sofar.

a car hitting a wall at 200, there isnt much car left...

Lets realise what hes about to go through people, i know you disagree with what he did, but he wont have a gf from now on... or a job... or $&#$%, no respect from anyone.

think about it, how many times have you gone fast "yeh but not up stuart street!" thats true... that was stupid of him... but think back the spir of the moment bullshit... your doing it anyway, so why stop?

not giving him an excuse for it all... but hell, thats life, it goes on, or stops for others.... what can ya do?

Dude you should try riding a Road Bike at 50kph feel's like you could get of and run faster even feel's like that sitting on 100kph as well :? ..
I don't think he would have been doing 200kph up there he wouldn't have been able to carry enough speed round the intersection by KFC and a standard looking WRX going to get up to 200kph in that short distance UP hill..

I dont see him...

Coz just because he's a mate of Gareth's doesn't mean he's in LnD..
I was told tonight (mate's cusion) that one the girl's might have to have her leg's taken off due to the damage done!!

I know where you are coming from about letting up on him he be going through tuff time etc etc but that's just it he took the risk and now he's gonna pay.. I mean running from a check point how stupid is that spesh when I went through it and they had Officer's in car's for that very reason people that do runner's..
It would have been easier to have gone through,, get taken away for drink driving loose his license for 6 - 9 month's and not have to live with distroying the live's of 2 other's,, most likely lost his mrs,, his license,, respect of other's and probably some mate's..
I can admit that yes on my Bike I do speed but there is a place and time to do so..

Thursday is his D Day when he goes up in Court..

My 2c worth anyway..

Who ever he is he's a fuken idoit fullstop.

Yeah heard the two girls are not lookin like making it/ or if they do survive pretty much being vegtables for the rest of there lives.

i'd say his speed was probally round the 120-150 mark, dont forget he was probally drunk, or at least intoxicated, & probally had the passengers egging him on, so was hyped up & his thinking & reactions wouldnt of been the best anyway, so where the accident happend probally had bugger all to do with his speed, as i'd say you could easily do 120-150 over the top of the hill without too much hassle.

its a shame it had to happen. In my books drink drivers are right down there with pedophiles.
