Well i guess only him & the girls really know what happened, everything else is just deducted reasoning or a guess, hell even the police "facts" will only be what they can deduct from the evidence at the scene & read into it.

Id almost bet my life on it that he'd had a few drinks, why else would he speed away from a checkpoint?

Its just senseless to me & probally means that all drivers of "boy racer" cars will get picked on for awhile as they make a show of force to try & cut down on drink drivers & boy racer cars & the "problems" they bring.

Anyone else want to see a sensibility test/reasoning test/iq test become part of the licencing procedure?

since they introduced the 5 yearly thing, I think it will only be a matter of time before they make people re-sit some of the tests at each re-newal, I'm all for it, and I know that I would fail on my 11 year old knowledge, let alone my parents on their ~50 year old driving test knowledge.

the sensibility thing would be a good one, but I can fake maturity when it is needed, and I'm one of the most immature ones out of my group of friends.

The problems with the above is that it would simply increase the number of un-licienced drivers, and then you get the problem of related offences, I mean if you are going to drive without a licience, why get a warrant? why not chop the springs and look cool doing it? I think you get my point.

no worries there. if someone is caught without having a licence, in an unroadworthy condition, simply lock them up for conspiracy to manslaughter.

No WoF, no reg, on a restricted, car not up to WoF standards, for the fun of it, not his car etc etc

Yes it was a checkpoint, that doesn't mean however alcohol was an issue. I'm not saying its not, and I think it quite likely was but thats not my call to make. And I think the police might have a bit more logical reasoning than the general public being that they actually get to investigate the scene

Yeah i guess there all good reasons for runnig from one. Though it was deffinately his car, well its registered in his name anyway.

Ill find out tomorrow if he was over the limit, i actually forgot to ask today.

simaler accident happend last year but going up the other way.

guy in a legacy wagon doing 90~100 over the crest went into the wall on the other side. i arrived @ the crash less than a minute afta it happend.

no where near as bad but the passenger had no seat belt and he ended up wit feet in frnt seat and head out rear right passenger door. broken back and arm i think.

alcohol involved in this case for sure. you could smell it on the drivers breath. and he admitted to drinking to my friends there.

Anybody had an update on the current condition of his passengers???

I've "heard" that the front passenger had her hand put back on, obviously condition is unknown for a few months, and also that she had leg damage, although I'm not sure to what extent.

The rear passenger had head and body lacerations(windscreen?) and also head injuries, but not "so bad".

Treat what I have posted here as "rumour with substance".

I pretty sure you will find that he was driving disqualified, couple that with Alcohol and a bad attitude, and thats what comes out of it. A bad decision, a big crash, and the guilt of what he has done.

I am sure that the driver understands the position he has put himself in.

Yeah already know his name, quite good friends of my old flat mates gf
