Anyone keen? the Alexandra drag racing isn't going to be on for ages, so thought this might be worth a looksee?

I don't really know much details about it sorry, but apparently you go into Midway Motors to find out more - or there is an email on the Otago Sports Car Club website: http://www.oscc.co.nz/

mechanic said to nana it for 1200kms... I figure he knows more than me about it, so I'll do it... 980kms to go, so unless I can do 980kms this week, and somehow pay for gas, and the entry fee for the drags, I'm not racing

Yeah, apparently there were Mercedes's and even a Maserati 3200GT (was it blue?) racing at Lawrence. 8O

And has anyone else seen the silver BMW M5 (the new 500 hp V10 version)? Saw it heading to Q-town on Sunday along with a blue Maserati 3200GT. 8)

I havent gone over 5000RPM yet, have been trying to stay under 4000.
4000 in 6th is still ~130

I read somewhere that if you thrash a new engine it is likely to produce more power eventually but not last as long, or if you nana it it will last a long time but be a little down on hp.

Don't quote me, but it kinda makes sense a little bit.

Yeah there was some disapointingly slow Maserati Turbo, coloured blue.
Most were 5.7L commodores but there was alot of old XW falcons, valiants, etc. Not one Honda!

Must be two lurking around then. 8)

Anyone else seen the four beasts at Cooke Howlison BMW (or whatever it is called?

- Nice red BMW M3 (i want!)
- Nice silver BMW M5 (the new 500 hp version)
- Really nice blue BMW M5 (as above)
- Greyish BMW M6 (the red one is probably lurking around the city too)

Never thought i'd ever see an M5, or an M6 but so far i've seen two of both. 8O 8O 8O

Also a really nice yellow Honda S2000 at Southern Honda. I want it. :(

Pics from the day, not as many cars racing as i'd hoped but it was better than nothing. :) Unfortunately wasn't any Supra's, Impreza's or more than one Skyline racing.

Image
Very quick EVO III

Image
Awesome '67 BOSS Mustang

Image
Quick EVO VIII

Image
The faster of the two batmobile RX-7's

Image
Last two runs i saw this wob wob didn't seem to be pushing that hard :(

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image
There's an HSV GTS in there somewhere - did some of the best burnouts of the day

Image

Image
Quick Ford

Image
This Vauxhall did good burnouts

Image
EVO III launching (which it did well ;))

Image
The safety car type thing - kept going up the strip to bring the other cars back. A nice EVO VII which went pretty well

Image
Coming back from the end

Image
And again

Image
This Camaro did short, but seriously smokey burnouts

Image
Owen roasting the tyres

Image
A latecomer - stalled shortly after this pic was taken ;)

Image
One of the Challengers that was there - i think this was probably the loudest car there - my ears didn't like it anyway

Was a pretty good day overall, i left early so i could catch the motorsport on TV One (made it home just in time to see the intro to Shell Helix Motorsport).

The season finale at Island Park Speedway was pretty awesome too, one of the best looking cars there, a black A grade saloon Mustang, did pretty well on the night, winning one race and having a huge crash in it's last race - flipping and losing all of the body shell and a few wheels - left a Corvette or Monaro/GTO on it's side and a Corvette with frontal damage.

The destruction derby was pretty awesome too.

Spotted MASCAM there too, parked across the road from me.
