Clarion dxz846mc skipping

got my mates to put my cd player in my car. Now when im driving it will randomly skip tracks (on cd) and loose al preset stations any reason why this is?? as title says its a clarion dxz846mc

Sounds like a power issue?
On my Kenwood unit if you disconnct the battery it resets all the preset stations, so it could be a low battery or something else in that system

As said above... Power will cause the stations to lose and as for skipping just a bad cd player? unless by skipping you mean the entire head unit cuts out if so then its deffinatly power! Try checking the positive connection and especially the ground connection.

bad cd hmm yea dont think so, had it for about 2mnths in my corolla, just put in the civic, and had no probs when in the rolla. It just skips tracks half way thru the song

Check that theres a constant 12v feed, not having this will cause it to lose the presets, and the radio in your civic still may be the problem, assuming its a different head unit to the one in your rolla. What affects this is the error correction the CD has, a CD with really good error correction can go over a small scratch or whatever, recover from it and not skip, where as a shit one will see something out of the ordinary, and go WTF and skip to the next sector of good data.
