fuel

Postby bluemaumau » Mon Apr 17, 2006 3:13 pm

im about too take the 4afe out of my wagon and drop a 4agze in.

the 4afe runs on 91
the gze on 98.

problem is the wagons still got about 10 litres in it.

1. will it be sweet to run the gze on this and some 98 (say 10 litres) till its empty, then 98 onwards.

2. when i undo all fuel lines from the 4afe will it spill all the contents of the tank or just line, imm sure just the line, but just wanna be sure.

3.anyway of empting the tank, cuz i have other machinary i can use the 91 in. obviously syphoning, but thats messy and i dont wanna fuk the nice blue paint 8)

any ideas appreciated
will :D

I would just undo the drain plug from under the tank empty the tank in to a container, but be bloody careful and do it out in the open (Not in the garage) away from electrical power tools, grinders and smokers. There will be fuel in the lines but it wont empty the fuel tank

Or if you bridge the diagnostic connector - should be marked FP - you can use the pump to pump it all out then pump some 98 through as well.
See ya

all good, save the effort and just fill'er'up with 98 with the 91 in there if you're really worried :P

I know of someone that runs their gze solely on 91, and its still alive, just wont be as happy i guess.

yeah yu can fill it with 98, but you really dont want to run it on 91
for one itll run like crap
and you do run the very real risk of killing it

lol, maybe if they ran it on 2 cylinders a 4afe would be faster, I dont think the engine crys THAT much about running on 91.

why is there such a high risk of killing a 4agze by running it on 91?

Its a boosted motor, higher risk of det on 91. Detonation kills motors.

If it pings once the knock sensor will pull the timing killing the performance.

Man, I've seen it all at work. Blacktop 4age's and 3sge's on 91, caldina gt-t's on 91, VR4 on 91, gtst, gts4, Supercharged FPV HSV etc... people are stupid.

A guy with a GT-Z came in and I mentioned that it would run better on 98 than 91, told him to try 98 just this once and now he's in every week to fill up.

The difference is massive.

I tell people, Yeah, the ecu will look after you a little bit but eventually you'll floor it up a hill one day and pop something.

They look at the price $1.729 then look at me as if to say "what would you know servo man"*

*Not that I know anything anyway...
