i have a friend who's going to do a engine conersion on his 02 vitz, and he needs some help from u guys

he is abel to get 3s-ge and 3s-gte, and will they all fit vitz with standard engine mounts? or some other toyota engine is better to fit?
and will they standard gearbox ok for the conersion, or it can use 3s-ge or s3-gte's gearbox?

Are you jocking?
measure up 3SG(T)E and 1NZFE (or whatever the engine is in VitZ) and see the difference, no you defenetly cant use original engine mounts or gearbox. If it is possible (reasonbly) to fit 3S in a vitz I guess, you will have to use custom gearbox/shafts (width of Vitz is much less than celica/corona) plus you will have move firewall and bumper space, as these engines are wider as well. Anything is possible with lots of money...

in china, there is engine conversion of vitz with a 4AGE blacktop or silver top, and it will fit, the only adjustments u need to make is remove the airbox and instead use trumpets or socks. They actually work quite well, although 20v may not produce as much power as a 3sge, but with the light body weight, maybe able to surprise some levins out there.

you may be able to do a 2zz engine in it, but you'd be pushing fitting that in there too.

I would sell a kidney to get an Echo / Vitz with a 2ZZ or suchlike in it.

Leave it on little steel wheels with hubcaps on, and scare people with it.

Fricken awesome.

how about a v6?
I reckon a 4efte might fit reasonably easily and can make some reasonable power. Pretty light so less of a lead-tipped-arrow than it would be with a behemoth 3s in there :D

why not just turbo the current engine? honestly price up mounting and crap, and compare it to an afm computer and a blower of sorts....

Evil_Si can do conversions, he changed my 13b powered chevron to a 13b-rew powered one, much respect

honestly, id learn more about the current setup and mod it to suit

Yes, a 2ZZGE has been done before. But not without some substantial chassis modifications. These may render the car unregisterable if you can't get an engineer's certification.
A 3SGE is possible. In fact we're looking seriously at this option ourselves right now having decided the previously planned 20V wouldn't produce what we were looking for.
I would be happy to compare notes.

cheers

Yes Joe. The prospect of building our own version of an S1600 car was exciting but on reflection if we're to be competitive in K2 we need 2L +.
Come to think of it I need to lose 30lbs and do some jogging too.
But back to the motor, it's the torque you see. So essential in a gravel rally car. With some very minor mods the 3SGE provides this in spades.
