Turbo Oil return etc

Postby Donor » Thu Apr 20, 2006 11:15 pm

Hi, Im fitting a TD05 to my 4agze, do I put the return pipe above or in the oil?? and what diameter should the return be?, I seen a post a while ago on this but cant find it??

Also Im using a catch can, has anyone used a reed type valve on the vacuum side of the can that runs to the exhaust? my mates dad has one and reckons they work well on v8s, would they work ok on a 1600? ta

yeh if its below oil level it mite as well be blockd, gravity makes it g dwn but its non-pressureised so it wont push oil very well....to get into the sump

Cool thanks guys. Do you think I need a restrictor with the oil feed line? what size feed should I use? I talked to a turbo specialist and he said he only uses restrictors on BB turbos but with bush turbos you need heaps of flow. what size feed lines are sum of you using on your setups? thanks

the TD06 i used to have, had quite a large oil feed line diameter in comparison to my Garrett GT Turbo I have now.....

So the rumour might be right.
No "stance", no "hellaflush", none of that bullshit. Nothing but no grip on full boost.

u can put the drain in the oil.
Only if your turbo sits really high, this is how its done on alot of standard cars that are turbo.

Is this worth it? Im thinking it would be a good idea as the vacuum source is coming from the exhaust not the manifold. I have been told this actually creates a very strong vacuum in the crankcase, anyone had this setup??ta
