Wheel has a terrible habit of dropping off

What model car is it?
Measure diagonally across the studs from inside of one to outside of the other and let me know what this is. If its a RWD Starlet someone may have swapped the hubs/rear axles to KE20 stuff. If this is the case the cortina wheels will go on but are not safe to use as tightening up the nuts will bend the studs in. They are 1.5mm to 2mm further out on the KE20 than the cortina

That doesn't actually answer the question, hilux studs are the same as factory ones just around 8mm or 12mm longer ( can't remember exact measurement).

I went out and looked at the wheels they say 114.3 x 4 I am assuming this is the stud pattern? So they must be different cortina models we are talking about

Found a pic on the net of my car from a while ago, does this look like it has cut springs?:
I am just trying to work out how long the car has had the cut springs and if it is safe with them. If its had them all along then I guess they are safe.

I looked around about 6 starlets but all the springs were gone would any other vehicles use similar springs.

I did however pick up some nice shiny wheels, they are off an old cortina so rwd offset and I kept the nuts so I can use the correct ones. I found an old rally tyre lying round the backyard at home and I was all happy but then I discovered the other rally tyre has been misplace/stolen. I'm real gutted now because the tyre I have has heaps of grip on.

ommon problem with springs being gone on parts cars, seems so many people cut the springs on starlets that original springs are in high demand, you could always go see someone who sells springs locally for you. King spring still list a set of lowered springs for kp6x starlets at no more than new lowered springs cost for any other car, also if you are planning on keeping the car for quite some time and are only going to be doing cicuit work with it then these are probably a good option.
PS What size is that rally tire and do you by chance want to sell it, i ave 7 14" and 3 13" and it's pissing me off that
a) i don't have two complete sets of 14" tires
b) i don't have one complete set of 13" tires

Fair enough let us know then.
Oh and if your springs were that loose and they were definately cut (that should be easy enough to see) i would recomend taking your rear shocks out and checking them as well, quite often having springs that short for any length of time will stuff the shocks which is another reason not to do dumb shit like that. Sucks to get cars in that state specially race cars.

The reason I ask is I am along way from civilisation and I'm heading out to town in the ute tomorrow true hicks style so I would like to know where I could pick them up.

Supercheap quoted 140 a spring for king springs lows and superlows.

Repco quoted 580 or something for all four and they are cobra springs I believe.

Is this a good price?

Thats about right, if you know anyone with a discount card get them to pick a set up for you, you will save lots. Stay away from superlows as you will run out of travle using them especially if you are planning on doing any gravel work and for some reason the thought that super lows aren't captive at full droop (ie when you jack your car up) keeps going round in my head as well. Have heard mixed things about cobra's and mixed to bad things about super low kings but not may people have problems with low kings

stay away from superlows as you will run out of travel specially if you are looking at any gravel work.

I'm just letting everyone know that wde-bdy was right about Cortina pcd, the reason the wheels I had fitted the cortina was either because the hubs had been modified or they bent the studs outwards, I looked at my friends Cortina you see and I measured it.
